Tennessee History Highlights / Hands-On History Classroom & Museum Educator Workshops
April 5 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm CDT
The East Tennessee Historical Society has partnered with Humanities Tennessee since 1989 to provide quality professional development for teachers across the region and state.
About the workshops: These 7-hour workshops will focus on primary-source-rich, hands-on strategies for addressing key Tennessee history stories found in the current and new social studies standards. Teachers, academic coaches, and museum educators are welcome to attend. Content from grades 3-5, 8 and 11 will be used in activities, but methods can be adapted for all grades. Revolutionary War, Antebellum Slavery, Civil War Secession and Union, Child Labor, and Women’s Suffrage are key content areas highlighted. Host community stories will also be featured.
