Ted’s Tennessee Tour. A 2019 Humanities Tennessee Student Reader Day Program. Supporters helped us further our mission by supporting two extraordinary Student Reader Day programs featuring author Ted Chiang and his new book, Exhalation, Some words about the book: “An instant classic … Visionary speculative stories that will change the way readers see themselves and the world around them …” —Kirkus Reviews (starred review); “… a collection of short stories that will make you think, grapple with big questions, and feel more human …” —Barack Obama.Ted visited two high schools: Montgomery Central High School Cunningham, TN and Shelbyville Central High School. Students from neighboring schools joined as well. 850 books were delivered to students giving them time to read and think and prepare questions to ask Ted himself. And, following Ted’s presentation, ask they did: from questions about free will to how to be a professional writer.
