Southern Festival of Books

(Nashville) Founded in 1989, the Southern Festival of Books is an annual, three-day Celebration of the Written Word – known nationwide as one of the leading literary celebrations – that features national, regional, and local authors, booksellers, publishers, and performers.

(Statewide) Student Reader Day brings writers into schools for presentations and provides free books for young readers to inspire critical thinking, lively discussion, and a lifelong love of reading.

Traveling Exhibits

(Statewide) Humanities Tennessee facilitates statewide tours of traveling exhibitions from the Smithsonian’s Museum on Main Street program, as well as smaller, state-specific exhibits.

(Martin, Harrogate) The Appalachian & Tennessee Young Writers’ Workshops are summer residential programs on college campuses for aspiring young writers to work directly with published authors to embolden creative writing skills.
