How to Sue the Klan is the story of how five Black Chattanooga women successfully sued the Ku Klux Klan in civil court in 1982. This documentary film by Chattanooga filmmaker John Beder uses archival film footage, newspaper articles, and contemporary interviews to trace how the violence on April 19, 1980, has reverberated into the present.

This project received Humanities Tennessee funding in two separate grant cycles.
